Automatic Share New “Calling It” Remix By Peaking Lights

Today, Automatic shares a new remix for their standout single “Calling It.” The track moves towards a moody disco through the production of Aaron Coyes from psych pop band Peaking Lights.

Speaking on the remix, Peaking Lights’ Aaron Coyes says:
“We were excited to have the opportunity to do a remix for Automatic. We’ve been friends with them for a while, Izzy babysat our kids and we are great friends with Lola’s older sister Diva. They have something great going, it was super hard to pick a song so we approached Stones Throw with four songs and the idea to do a remix EP, the music is fucking rad, we couldn’t pick just one. Alas Stones Throw was like, just do ‘Calling It’ . We we’re eased by that as it was impossible to pick one. Automatic will keep making amazing songs, and we’ll keep listening. Possibly one of the best things is when people you know shine!”

The LA post-punk trio Automatic just wrapped a tour in Europe and are currently out on the road in the US with the band Shopping all through March and April including stops in Los Angeles, SXSW, New York, and more. Peaking Lights will be releasing a new album E S C A P E slated to be out in May 2020 on Dekmantel.

Since the release of their Stones Throw debut album Signal in September, Automatic has soundtracked Hedi Slimane’s Paris Fashion Week show for Céline, toured the USA, and opened for legendary post-punk band Bauhaus’ reunion shows at the Hollywood Palladium. Signal was also chosen as an album of the year by Norman Records and Resident Music, who described it as “inventive, enticing and new.”

Automatic, composed of Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Lola Dompé (drums, vocals) and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals), worked with producer and engineer Joo Joo Ashworth of FROTH for the album. Signal ties together the band’s taste for dub reggae, motorik rhythms and gnarly synth work inspired by bands like NEU! and Suicide with the eerie atmosphere of films by auteurs like David Lynch and Dario Argento, to capture what it’s like to feel at an angle to the world.
