Glam Skanks Are Some Seriously “Bad Bitches”

With a name like Glam Skanks I got everything I expected and more. The all-girl rock band – nothing new in this day and age have something going for them most do not. Personality and showmanship – two thing actually.

The Glam Skanks are four distinct personalities that come together making great rock and roll. High energy and all over the stage the band resembles cartoon characters with their individual in tense playing – kind of like Josie and the Pussycats – the comic book and animated 1970 show – not the movie with Tara Reid (thank goodness).

Singer Vanessa McNiel is all over the stage leaving no doubt she owns it. Her flamboyant style and strut is reminiscent of a young Jagger or Steven Tyler except in heels. Drummer Jessica Goodwin remains in hyper mode the whole time behind her set constantly beating her kit like an unfaithful boyfriend. Millie Chan, the band’s bass player may be the outfit coolest cat as she stands off from the other three on a bass almost as big as her not missing a beat. Rounding out the band last but not least is guitarist Veronica Witkin, the “starchild” of the band with her curly neon colored hair setting an energetic pace for the band to keep up with.

Songs like “Time Warp Woman” and “Bad Bitch” ignited the crowd, not to mention a unique cover of Donna Summer’s “Bad Girls” made it no wonder as to why Adam Ant choice Glam Skanks as his tour partner n the “Friend Or Foe” tour.

And while many discuss the death of rock and roll the Glam Skanks prove it has more than a pulse leaving hope for us who still love it.
