Postdata’s ‘Twin Flames’ LP Out Today

Postdata the solo music work of Wintersleep’s, Paul Murphy, shares his long-awaited album Twin Flames, out now on Paper Bag Records. Twin Flames is a breathtaking and introspective new album, brimming with deep wonderings and intricately excavated soundscapes.

Twin Flames has received glowing album reviews from Exclaim!, Line Of Best Fit, Secret Meeting, and God Is In The TV, who dubbed it a “triumph” and delivered a 9/10 review.

Tracks from the album have been featured at Exclaim!, The Guardian Brooklyn Vegan and Under The Radar and Exclaim! also included Twin Flames as one of their ‘Most Anticipated Albums of 2021’ and the record has received a glowing 4* review in the current issue of MOJO.

Murphy is well known for his two prior solo album releases: Postdata (2010) and Let’s Be Wilderness (2018) and for his work within his Juno award-winning and multi-nominated band, Wintersleep.

As a full album, Twin Flames teems with intricate sounds, soft things ruffling on the edges, emerging in the choruses, rising in the quiet and the subdued spaces. Murphy has, with this third LP, crafted the most intimate and timeless Postdata record yet; a bright, compassionate text of major-key romanticism. Murphy says the record is inward-looking and “focused on creating or surrounding itself in hope and warmth.” This tone is realized thanks in part to both process and content. Twin Flames was recorded and co-produced in isolation by Murphy in Halifax/K’jipuktuk and with Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Perfume Genius, Algiers) in Bristol, UK. While Chant is a new collaborator, a slew of familiars contributed sounds to the record including Wintersleep’s Tim D’Eon and longtime friend Andy Monaghan of Frightened Rabbit.

Join Postdata on Friday March 12th at Side Door for a live performance in celebration of the album release for Twin Flames on Paper Bag Records. This online performance will be an acoustic set featuring these remarkable songs in their most intimate form and many for the first time live.  Tickets are available here.
