The Chattanooga Mocs are in third place after 36 holes of the UNF Collegiate. The squad’s 596 at the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club is seven behind host North Florida and six short of second-place Sam Houston State.
The Mocs sat in fourth place after the morning round. The quintet opened with 301 which was six off the pace set by host North Florida. Van Son turned in 74 which was one better than Hamilton and Zalewska while Barrios carded 77. Thompson had the drop of 81.
The ladies came out firing in the afternoon 18. Hamilton led the way with level-par 72 as Zalewska fell in right behind with Barrios at 74. Van Son came back with 75 as the team record 295. Thompson’s 81 was the drop score.
Just four strokes separate the top four Mocs tallies. Hamilton’s 147 total is tied for fourth overall, two ahead of Zalewska and Van Son tied for 12th at 149. Barrios is two behind the pair tied for 21st.
Barrios’ first round 77 tied for the fourth-lowest counting score of the season. It was the best since 74 by Thompson and Zalewska in the final 18 of the Mercer Invite on November 10. That was topped in the afternoon by Van Son’s 75.
