The Chattanooga Mocs opened this year’s Linger Longer Invitational with 297. That’s tied for 11th with Southern Conference rival Mercer. It’s a bunched leaderboard with 10 strokes separating Memphis in fifth and 14th-place Georgia State.
A.J. Lintunen posted his fourth straight par or better round carding 1-under 71. It included four birdies and 11 pars. He’s tied for 14th overall as 23 student-athletes broke par in the 87-player field. Paul Conroy chipped in 74, one better than Connor Nolan’s 75. Oliver Simonsen and Matt Smith each registered 77.
Georgia Tech leads with 283. That’s two better than Charlotte in second. Middle Tennessee’s Connor McKay is the individual leader at 66.
Round two starts Saturday morning with the Mocs paired with Middle Tennessee and Mercer. The trio start at 8:35 a.m., off hole 10. Smith leads off followed by Simonsen, Nolan, Conroy and Lintunen. Click the scoring link above for complete results and pairings when available.
