The Chattanooga Mocs rose into fourth at the Furman Intercollegiate behind a 281 effort that matched Wofford for top round of the day. The Mocs are nine shots out of the lead with 575 through 36 holes.
It was a strong finish that propelled the group into contention. Seven of the team’s 14 birdies came in the final four holes completing a 3 under back nine effort. The 281 total is the squad’s third-lowest round of the season.
All four counting scores came in par or better led by Paul Conroy’s 69. Alex Cobb was one behind him with 70, while A.J. Lintunen and Leon Bader each carded level-par 71s. Matt Smith had the drop tally with 75. Individual Gabe Hunter came in with 1-under 70.
Conroy and Cobb are tied for ninth at 1-over 143. Bader is on their heels tied for 16th with 144 followed by Lintunen’s 147 and Smith’s 149. Hunter matched Lintunen’s 147 so far.
The host Paladins continue to lead with 566, two ahead of Wofford in second. Florida Gulf Coast is third with 572 ahead of the Mocs with Charleston Southern in fifth at 581. Furman’s Keller Harper is the individual leader at 135.
