Kam-Bu Shares Two-Song Single “Dumpling” And “Growth Freestyle”

Today, South London rapper Kam-Bu shares a new two-song single, consisting of “Dumpling” and “Growth Freestyle.” The former is a completely new cut from the rapper produced by Pablo Pullen and arrives alongside a video directed by Sekou Abineri, who also directed the visual for “Growth Freestyle,” which arrived late last month. The two song-single also continues his hot-streak after “Black on Black,” which Pitchfork featured as the Rap Song of the Day upon its release.

Speaking on “Dumpling,” Kam-Bu says: “This song is like having a trip that was probably fucked up but coming out the other side still feeling on top of the world. The video takes you on that journey, a stroll round the Wild West with Killy dem tripping balls and spilling juice. Every time me and Pullen get in the kitchen, we whip up something different, this was a wavey Friday night. I state I’m an alien because I feel different, out of this world.”

With the ability to effortlessly juggle both hard-hitting party anthems and complex explorations of British social and political issues (not to mention themes of sustainability and environmentalism – a major source of passion for the rapper), Kam-Bu’s undeniable talent is singular in nature and has allowed him to stand out as a mature, differentiated voice amongst his peers. In January, Kam released “Are You On?” his debut release for Atlas Artists. Produced by seminal DJ and producer Leon Vynehall, the track received widespread support across BBC 1xtra, Apple Music and community radio as well as leading to a wide range of editorial champions including the likes of Dazed, i-D, GRM, FACT, Resident Advisor, Clash, Mixtape Madness, Pitchfork, Mixmag and more. Most recently, Kam collaborated with the likes of Gucci x Farfetch on their latest Imagined Futures project and was shot.
