Lani Hall Releases “Seasons Of Love,” First New Solo Music in 24 Years

Today, Lani Hall has released an inspiring interpretation of the modern classic, “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway play, Rent. The GRAMMY Award-winning Brasil 66’ singer has recorded more than 22 albums in three different languages over her career, recorded the theme song for the James Bond film Never Say Never Again, and has played thousands of shows as a solo artist, with Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66’ and together with her partner Herb Alpert. “I have always LOVED the song ‘Seasons of Love,’ says Hall. “I love the beautiful message and I love how this song breaks down life in increments.”

Like so many musicians, when the pandemic appeared Hall and Alpert cancelled their remaining 2020 shows and isolated at home. Despite having not recorded or released new solo music since 1998, Lani was still recording as a featured singer on many of Herb’s recordings and touring with Herb and their band during the last 15 years playing 55+ shows a year. After a time in quarantine suddenly Hall felt “a hole in my heart from not singing. A singer needs to sing.” Noting her longing and knowing that she had always loved the song, “Seasons of Love,” Herb Alpert went in and recorded the music track and surprised her with it. After recording and producing the track together, they found that a new creative spark has ignited and fans can count on more new music being released by Hall later this year.
