Junior Mesa Shares “Listen Close”

Today, multi-disciplinary artist Junior Mesa reemerges to share his new song and video, “Listen Close,” which marks the first taste of new music from a forthcoming project arriving this Summer. Directed, edited, and written by Junior himself, the single’s accompanying visual is an introduction into a new world of his creation, as he embarks on a whirlwind chase before succumbing to his own temptations. The song, released via Nice Life Recording Company, opens up a new chapter for Junior musically, following his double single from last year “Creep” and “Losing My Grip,” which Billboard described as containing “a palpable sense of carefree contemplation.”

Speaking on the inspiration behind “Listen Close,” Junior says, “In this song, I compare music to a toxic relationship. I have struggled with epilepsy the past couple of years trying new medications, dosages and pretty consistently feeling very sick and depressed. This affected the thing I love most: music. I would make music ’til the world around me would spin, my hands would go numb and I couldn’t breath, all caused by the anxiety that I would have a seizure, but for some reason I couldn’t stop. It’s just what I do. It’s all i want to do…create shit”
