Reyna Roberts Releases “Raised Right”
CMT “Next Women of Country” Class of 2021 artist Reyna Roberts releases her fiery anthem “Raised Right” today. A song that introduces all sides of the powerhouse vocalist, “Raised Right” showcases the singer’s star power alongside hand-clapped rhythms, soaring electric guitar riffs and world-class vocals that combine the range of Christina Aguilera with the sass of Gretchen Wilson. “Raised Right” juxtaposes the full spectrum of how Roberts herself was raised. Strong and confident, but also genuine and grounded.
Roberts took her initial idea for the track to her collaborators Danny Myrick (“She’s Country,” “I Love This Life”) and Kylie Sackley (“You Broke Up with Me”) for a co-write and channeled her upbringing into the song. Raised by two Army combat engineers, Roberts declares “I grew up that way and I wouldn’t change one damn thing.”
“We all have different sides of ourselves,” explained Roberts.”I know my inner self is a little more wild, and that’s the Reyna you see on stage. The Reyna my family and friends know is the one that was ‘Raised Right.’”
“I’m a little bit of whiskey in my sweet tea/ I’m a little bit of city in my country/ A little hell yeah in my hallelujah … I got a little bit of wrong in my raised right,” she belts on the chorus, which pairs Roberts’ riveting and stunning vocals, while the lead and rhythm guitars drive the song as the bass and kick drum ramp up the energy.
“Raised Right” is Roberts’ first release since signing a publishing deal with Eclipse Music Group this month. It follows previous singles “Stompin’ Grounds,” which appeared on ESPN’s Monday Night Football and was named a “banger” by Rolling Stone, and the sultry “67 (Winchester).”
Roberts also just performed with Luke Combs as part of “CMT GIANTS: Charley Pride.” Roberts’ performance on the special celebrating the life and legacy of Charley Pride is available to watch here. Roberts is also currently gearing up to hit the stage at Summerfest on Sept. 3.
“Raised Right” is the first taste of new music in 2021 from Roberts.
