The Stranglers have just released a new video for “This Song.” The video features legendary England International football player, manager and longtime Stranglers fan, Stuart Pearce. The visual follows Pearce in action mode, being chased through streets of a monochromatic London. Pearce has cited the Stranglers as one of his favorite bands, having seen them play live over 300 times.
“This Song” is taken from the new album Dark Matters, out today via the band’s own Coursegood imprint, distributed by BFD/The Orchard in North America. Dark Matters is the band’s first new album in nearly a decade. The tracks on Dark Matters were made over the course of two years at the band’s studios in the rural idylls of Somerset, England, and in Southern France, produced by long-time collaborator Louie Nicastro.
Of his starring turn in the “This Song” video, Stuart Pearce commented, “When the Stranglers make you an offer you can’t refuse…you can’t refuse! I played it cool but to be honest I was excited, and honoured to be asked. As a lifelong fan of the Stranglers, being part of this video was very special. ‘This Song’ is the Stranglers at their best, a really catchy song full of all the classic traits of the band”.
