Today, London-based multi-faceted creative Salvador Navarrete, a.k.a Sega Bodega, announces the new album Romeo due November 12th. Romeo will mark the second full-length from Sega Bodega and includes features from friends and artists Arca and Charlotte Gainsbourg among the project’s ten songs. To coincide with the album announcement, Sega shares the second single “Angel On My Shoulder” alongside a lyric video. Combining influence from electronic, pop and classical piano, the four-minute, heartfelt track showcases Sega’s experimental sound layered with intangible sonics.
Sega shares about the track, “I was trying to propose the idea that guardian angels are just friends we never met, who died young or were just never born.” “Angel On My Shoulder” follows the first Romeo single “Only Seeing God When I Come,” which Office Magazine described as, “Floating hypnotic choral harmonies over weaving break-beats and ethereal synth.”
Sega’s latest offerings arrive on the heels of his critically successful 2020 debut album, Salvador. Through the chaos of early 2020, Salvador saw Bodega at his most raw and vulnerable, swirling emotional and psychological turmoil amongst experimental and hard hitting production. Pitchfork noted, “What makes the record click is that it feels relatable, yet entirely on Sega Bodega’s terms: ambitious, lonely, and aching for intimacy.”
