UTC Football Picks Up 3 More All-America Nods

The Chattanooga Mocs continue to rake in the postseason accolades. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) put out its much-anticipated All-America team and two likely Mocs were prominent on the list. Offensive lineman Cole Strange made the first team, while Devonnsha Maxwell placed on the second.

“Being voted on by my fellow coaches, this is a special honor in my eyes,” Coach Rusty Wright stated. “These two young men continue to get these honors because of what they do off the field as much as what they do on it on Saturdays.

“I’m proud of all three All-Americans this season. They are truly deserving.”

Strange also got the call from Athlon Sports. The annual publication’s postseason awards include just a first team. For Strange, it’s his fourth first team mention in five teams released. HERO Sports and Stat Perform also agreed. Maxwell was first team on the Stat Perform squad and second team with HERO Sports and the Associated Press. Defensive back Brandon Dowdell joined him on the second team per the AP with Strange on the third.

The AFCA All-America team is determined by a select committee of head coaches from across the country.
