UTC Volleyball Adds Chattanooga Native Elaine Redman to 2022 Squad

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Director of Volleyball, Julie Torbett Thomas, announced the addition of Toledo transfer Elaine Redman to the team. Redman, a 6-1 setter and former Baylor High letter winner, will join the team this semester.

“I am thrilled to add Elaine to our program,” said Torbett. “She is a local player who wanted to go away to college and had a great season at Toledo as their starting setter. Chattanooga is a special place and she wanted to come back home and represent the Mocs.”

In her one year at Toledo, Redman started in 31 of the team’s 33 matches and played in all 33. She was the primary setter for the Rockets, registering 1057 assists, averaging 8.96 per set. The Chattanooga native also added 49 kills and 237 digs, posting 2.01 digs per set. In her 33 matches, Redman tallied seven double doubles. She set a season high in Toledo’s NIVC opener with 56 assists in the team’s 3-2 win over Indiana State.

Redman averaged 10.22 assists per set during MAC competition, good for fifth among conference setters. In her freshman season, Redman was second in the league and 88th in the nation with 39 service aces. She earned two MAC West Setter of the Week honors and was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team.

Prior to her stint at Toledo, Redman was a three-time varsity letter winner for Baylor School. She helped the team to two TSAA Division II Runner-Up finishes. Redman was named one of the best setters in the state of Tennessee as a two-time all-state honoree and was selected to the Best of Preps team by the Chattanooga Times Free Press as a junior.
