Korean Producer 250 Details Debut Album

Korean producer and DJ 250 officially announces his debut album ppong, due March 18th via Beasts and Natives Alike (BANA). The announcement arrives following the project’s second single and an accompanying video “Bang Bus”, marking 250’s first release since his first single “Rear Window” in 2018.

250 is a music producer and DJ from South Korea, renowned for producing in a range of different genres. His new debut album ppong, four years in the making and out in March is his most audacious work yet; fusing Korean ppong-jak music with modern dance floor electronics.

250 made his name producing for legendary South Korean hip hop icons like E Sens, Masta Wu and Kim Ximya. From there, he was tapped to create genre-bending beats for the megastars of K-pop like BTS, Itzy, NCT 127, f(x) and BoA. Simultaneously he’s been an in-demand DJ, playing for Seoul Fashion Week runway, Maison Kitsuné club nights and more.

With his debut artist album, 250 has looked inwards to his memories of the uniquely Korean popular music genre of ppong-jak or trot to find something new to say. Maybe the most high profile international exposure of this genre and its surrounding culture came in the final scene of Oscar winner Bong Joon-Ho’s 2009 film Mother which ends with a typical ppong party on an intercity bus. These intercity organized bus tours are hugely popular with middle aged and senior citizens in Korea, with singing and dancing to ppong-jak the entertainment of choice over the long cross country journeys.
