The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team heads west to the Jackrabbit Invitational this weekend. Play starts Friday with 36 holes before returning to Boulder Creek Golf Club Saturday for a final 18 on the Boulder City, Nev., tract.
The lineup has a couple of tweaks after a fierce few days of qualifying with Paul Conroy and Braedon Wear exempt for their play to date. The other three spots were up for grabs and two changes are in effect for this week’s event.
Alex Cobb returns after making his first start of the season in the Bahamas. Senior Connor Nolan and freshman Carson Johnson slot in filling out the lineup card. It’s Johnson’s first career appearance for the Mocs.
Conroy (2 under) continues his quest for just the fourth sub-par season in school history. Of the first three, two came from current PGA TOUR member Stephan Jaeger in 2011 (-1) and 2012 (-22) who is in the field of the Players Championship, while the other was turned in by All-American Jonathan Hodge in 2008 (-9).
Wear is looking to add to his resume as well. The freshman has the team’s lone individual win capturing medalist honors at the J.T. Poston Invite in October. The squad is in search of its second title after closing out the fall portion of the schedule tying for the win at the Battle of Black Creek.
