UTC Men’s Golf Heads to a Final 18 Tuesday

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team sits in 12th-place with 18 holes to play at the Linger Longer Invitational. The Mocs traversed Great Waters Course in 305 strokes today for a two-day total of 606. That’s eight behind UNCG in 11th with 598 and one ahead of Mercer in 13th.

Matt Smith rebounded from a tough start yesterday to lead the crew today. He shot even-par 72 balancing three birdies and three bogeys with 12 pars. Braedon Wear added 75 as Paul Conroy chipped in 77. Connor Nolan’s 81 completed the team tally with Parker Highsmith’s 82 serving as the drop score.

Wear is the team’s leader after 36 holes at 2-over 146. Conroy and Smith are neck and neck with 152 and 153, respectively. Highsmith, who was a late addition to the travel roster, is at 157 with 161 for Nolan.

Vanderbilt and Georgia are tied for the lead with 556, eight clear of Florida’s 564. Clemson’s Jacob Bridgeman is the individual leader at 11 under.

The Mocs start their second round at 8:30 a.m., on the 10th hole playing with Toledo and UNCG. Nolan leads off followed by Highsmith (8:39), Smith (8:48), Conroy (8:57) and Wear (9:06). Live scoring and pairings are linked above along with the detailed results package.
