Paul Bender of Hiatus Kaiyote Announces Solo Album

Hiatus Kaiyote bassist, composer and producer Paul Bender announces his solo album How To Forget due May 24th. The 9-track project is filled with richly realized meditations on love and love destroyed, on picking up pieces and wondering what to leave behind. It shows a complexity that he’s hidden behind bombastic bass lines and otherworldly one-liners in the past. Bender played every instrument and served as lead vocalist on the entire record. Along with the album’s announcement, he shares the lead single “Summer Fool”, led by bossa nova-inspired guitar and layered with cinematic strings, the song details the blossoming of a romantic relationship in the summertime.

On the genesis of How To Forget, Bender states: “The whole album, cliché as it may be, is written entirely about the existence and downfall of a single relationship that altered my life profoundly. I made this album entirely for my own healing and catharsis, but I’m proud to be able to present it to the world, knowing that I was able to capture something beautiful and deeply honest.”
