Ouri Shares New Video
Montreal-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Ouri shares the video for her song “Ossature”. Directed by Derek Branscombe, the animated visuals for the song off her acclaimed debut album Frame of a Fauna are inspired by a Ketamine treatment Ouri received last year. The video depicts some of her visions, aesthetically transmitting the feeling of this very strange healing experience through a heroic battle and retrieving a lost connection with her ancestors. Derek crafted this world using a bold and sometimes chaotic mix of VFX and AI-generated animation. The new video arrives on the heels of Ouri’s inclusion in this year’s Polaris Music Prize shortlist.
Speaking about “Ossature”, Ouri states, “I revisited the iconic, agile and tense sample of ‘Intact Alef’ by PTU from one of my favorite labels трип records for this song. Rebellious choruses fight submissive verses, puncturing the classical nuances with industrial abrasions and heavy drum samples – tearing down any attempt to keep a disciplined and soft self on top.”
