UTC Men’s Golf Puts Together Solid 36 Holes

The Chattanooga Mocs men’s golf team are tied for fourth place after 36 holes Monday at the J.T. Poston Invitational. The lads opened with 288 over the first 18 and closed with 286 in the afternoon.

It was a balanced effort over the first round. The 4-over 284 was led by Samuel Espinosa and Garrett Engle with even-par 71s. Paul Conroy and Braedon Wear added 73, while John Houk posted the drop score with 74.

Round two saw Wear lead the way with a 1-under 70. Conroy was right on his heels with even-par 71 which was one better than Houk’s 72. Espinosa turned in 73, while Engle’s 74 was the drop tally.

The 574 total is tied with Wofford. The duo is 10 off the pace set by Coastal Carolina. UNCW (569) is second with Elon (572) in third. Georgia State’s Jordan Jung is the individual leader with 137 (-5).

Tuesday’s final 18 is a 9:20 a.m., start for the Mocs. Houk leads off followed by Engle (9:29), Conroy (9:38), Espinosa (9:47) and Wear (9:56). It’s SoCon Tuesday paired with Western Carolina and the Terriers.
